Dianne Martin

Dianne has had over thirty years of experience as an Artist.

She commenced her career in Sydney and Melbourne as an art teacher before moving to Hobart in 1977.  In the eighties and nineties, she became well known around Tasmania for her brightly coloured ceramics and in 190 completed a BFA with a ceramics major at the Tasmanian School of Arts in Hunter Street Hobart.

Her practice changed to Kiln – formed glass in 2002 and features distinctive brightly coloured platters and sculptural pieces.  The success of her fused – glass jewellery inspired her to do a jewellery course 2005 – 06 and now silver – smithing forms the larger part of her artistic practice.

More recently Dianne has begun making own flameworked beads and also using enamels as a way of introducing colour into her jewellery.  She has always had a love of the Art Deco style and the work of the Bauhaus School of the 1920’s.  This influence is evident in her glass and jewellery designs.

Imaginative design and colour remain a feature in all of Dianne’s artistic pursuits.
